Digital Planning Directory Joint Event with the Mayor of London: AI in Planning, London City Hall, 9 April 2025
Digital Task Force for Planning hosted a joint event with the Mayor of London on AI & Planning at the London City Hall on 9 April. The event marked the official launch of the Digital Planning Directory 2025 event programme.
The event brought together over 130 attendees, including around 50 local planning authority officers, 50 companies listed in the Digital Planning Directory with AI expertise, and other key stakeholders. It represented a first-of-its-kind opportunity for these two groups to come together, share insights, and explore the opportunities and challenges facing the planning sector.
Baroness Taylor of Stevenage, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), delivered a compelling keynote address and contributed to the roundtable discussion on AI in planning.
The second part of the event — AI Insights Live: Case Studies in Local Planning Authorities — livestreamed eight selected case studies from the Digital Planning Directory. These were jointly presented by planning authorities and digital service providers, highlighting live, UK-based projects where AI is already being applied in planning. Each case study presented exemplified close collaboration between planning authorities and digital service providers.
