Technical information about this site’s accessibility
The Digital Planning Directory is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:
- Images on some pages do not always have suitable image descriptions. Users of assistive technologies may not have access to information conveyed in images. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (Non-text Content).
- Some content is only available in pre-recorded video format which may not include subtitles or a transcript. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.2.1 (Audio-only and Video-only (Prerecorded))
- Some images such as company logos may include text with poor colour contrast to its background. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.3 (Contrast (Minimum))
- Some images may consist primarily of text that cannot entirely be replaced with text. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.5 (Images of Text)
- Some images such as company logos may include elements with poor colour contrast to the background. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.11 (Non-text Contrast)
- Some extended functionality available within the site may not be fully accessible to all keyboard users. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.1.1 (Keyboard)
- Automated scans of pages suggest that multiple links on the same page have different stated descriptions and purposes. Such automated scans cannot identify the links having different descriptions in context and report a failure on WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.4 (Link Purpose (In Context))
- Some extended functionality available within the site may not provide visible focus when otherwise selected (e.g. by keyboard). This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.7 (Focus Visible)
- Some links that reveal more content can cause some screen reader users to lose their position on the page. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 4.1.2 (Name, Role, Value)
- Some items may be flagged through automated scans as user interface components that are not otherwise adequately labelled. This primarily applies to items that cannot be identified through automated means as non-interactive content, but whose presence can indicate a failure of WCAG 2.2 success criterion 4.1.2 (Name, Role, Value)
Contributed content
Some parts of this website contain content produced by third parties, for example companies listed in the directory will supply content for their listing. As a result, some content may be provided that is not accessible. This includes:
- Company logos and branding that are, in context, not other accessible.
- Specialised terminology that is unique to the company referring to it and as such it may not be in our glossary.
- Video content may be provided that lacks a suitable audio track, subtitles or a transcript.
The Directory is not responsible for this content.
The Directory commits to working with our partners and providers to improve the accessibility of currently non-accessible content, including ensuring video and audio resources have transcripts, images have suitable descriptions and where possible, high contrast versions.
