Nexus Analytics & Research was commissioned to produce a Vitality Assessment for a proposed 43-dwelling residential scheme in Rusper, Horsham.

Challenges
Site suitability: One of the key challenges set out to support the planning application was demonstrating that the site was unsuitable for employment uses, making it an ideal location for much-needed market and affordable housing.
Vitality and viability: Another challenge was evaluating how a residential development on the site would help maintain the vitality and viability of local services in Rusper.

To address the challenge of the site’s suitability for residential development, we utilised our Vitality Assessment. For this project, our Vitality Assessment quantified the economic benefits during both the construction and operational phases, evaluating how the increase in residents would impact local businesses, expenditure, and job supply and demand.

Our assessment effectively demonstrated that the redevelopment of the site would benefit the wider village both by providing economic benefits and boosting usership of key local services, such as the primary school, the village hall, recreational facilities and local shops.
