Introduction

To support Sunderland City Council’s ambitious regeneration plan and low carbon ambitions, they recognised an opportunity to leverage technology to gain deeper insights into the present and future conditions of the city’s transportation and environmental status. Their aspiration when utilising digital twin technology was to simulate certain scenarios to better inform and aid decision making regarding future activity and investment in Sunderland.

Deployment of SimAnalytica’s applications to Sunderland City Council team members to reduce dependency on third party consultants and build dynamic, interactive visualisations to engage key stakeholders in the business case for investment.

Results

A cost benefit ratio exceeding 20:1 and ~£50k/assessment project saves in external consultant service fees. “We now have a clearer understanding of how interventions will affect the city: thereby facilitating quick and targeted decision making”.
