Introduction

We’re improving the parking experience at the University of British Columbia by turning parking meters into interactive assistants, allowing users to find spots and get payment information.

Challenges

- Improve the ease and convenience of parking for visitors and students at the University of British Columbia
- Encourage interaction with parking meters to provide valuable real-time information and support
- Decrease the need for direct staff intervention by offering instant answers to parking queries

Solutions

We’re enhancing the parking experience at the University of British Columbia by transforming parking meters into interactive assistants. Visitors and students can now easily get answers to their parking-related questions, from finding available spots to understanding payment options, all through a simple conversation with parking meters and via a website chat widget. This innovative approach not only simplifies parking but also provides real-time support, making campus navigation more seamless and user-friendly.

Results

- Reduced the volume of parking-related enquiries, freeing up staff time for other tasks - saving 942+ working days annually
- Visitors and students have found parking easier and more intuitive, improving overall satisfaction
- Fostered greater community interaction and feedback on parking services
