Introduction

London Borough of Lambeth, as part of its housing delivery program, faced significant inefficiencies in managing essential site surveys, such as land contamination, ecology, tree surveys, utility surveys and many more.

These surveys are crucial to de-risk the site, unlock the design team and satisfy planning conditions.

Challenges

Managing the various technical surveys is a challenge especially in the public sector where three quotes per survey are regularly required. Additionally once the surveyors are procured they then need to be managed, site visits need to be agreed and the final technical reports need to be reviewed in order to identify any additional risks and essential next steps.

Any delay on these various surveys can slow down the whole project and they are a barrier to unlocking land and delivering homes at scale.

The council sought a more streamlined approach to accelerate housing delivery.

Solutions

RenKap’s off-the-shelf Site Survey Marketplace was introduced by the GLA to address these challenges. The RenKap platform enabled Lambeth to:

– Instantly obtain multiple quotes for all their surveys, ensuring a competitive and compliant process.
– Procure surveyors with one standardised contract and one payment
– Streamline survey management, including arranging site visits and keeping track of progress
– Identifying any additional survey requirements post-completion.

This enabled the London Borough of Lambeth to save 90% of the typical resource requirements associated with survey coordination.

No integration to existing IT is required as the platform is a standalone web based solution accessible anywhere with internet.

Results

The implementation of RenKap’s platform significantly improved efficiency, allowing Lambeth to process surveys faster and make informed decisions on site viability and planning. The results included:

– A 90% reduction in resource use for survey management.
– Surveys delivered 2X faster from start to finish
– Multiple quotes could be received in

RenKap’s platform transformed our approach to site surveys, saving us a lot of time. It’s a game-changer for managing site surveys.
