Openplan is dedicated to transforming local government planning services with human-centered digital solutions. Our mission is to deliver simple yet powerful software that empowers teams to overcome workload challenges, unlock inaccessible data, and manage seamless system migrations. Based at Keele University’s Science and Innovation Park and founded by Mike Astbury and Rich Kiernan, Openplan combines decades of expertise in change leadership and software development to address critical inefficiencies in local planning authorities (LPAs).

Our flagship products include:

Workview: Offers workload and capacity analysis, helping LPAs visualize current challenges, model solutions, and create data-backed improvement plans.

Dataview: Unlocks planning data, making it accessible and actionable for everyone involved in the planning process, fostering fairness and transparency.

Migrate: Streamlines data migration between old and new systems, reducing risks, inaccuracies, and operational disruption.

Openplan’s solutions are designed with simplicity and user-friendliness in mind, ensuring seamless adoption and significant transformative potential. By addressing the unique needs of LPAs, we help create less stressful, more productive workplaces that enable teams to focus on delivering exceptional service outcomes.

Aligned with our partnership with Mondrem CIC, a leader in public service improvement, Openplan is committed to creating better places to work while enhancing service quality.
